Curious About Sense It? Of Course You Are!
Why else would you be here? Let me take you through all of the questions you may have.
But first, allow me to introduce myself!
Beginnings
My journey with sensory integration dysfunction began when I was just 5 years old. Growing up, I faced challenges that many people with sensory sensitivities know all too well—everything from the itchy seams of my socks to the overwhelming noise of crowded spaces. Getting dressed was always a challenge as well. Zippers on the back of dresses and tight sleeves would all trigger discomfort. Whenever this would happen, my mom would tell me, “Wait 5 minutes, and if it still bothers you, then you can change.” Surprisingly, after those 5 minutes, the irritation would vanish. My skin would adapt to the fabric. I carry this lesson into my adult life, helping me deal with frustrating moments. However, it is still like living in a world where every little detail feels magnified! This inspired me to design a product in college to help people who face similar sensory sensitivities to mine.
Story
Sense It began from my personal experiences with sensory integration dysfunction. As a child, I faced daily challenges related to sensory sensitivities, which ignited a passion to create products and a supportive space for others like me.
For my senior design project in college, I recognized the pressing need for sensory-friendly tools and began designing products aimed at alleviating anxiety and sensory overload. With valuable guidance from occupational therapists, along with surveys and iterative ideation, I developed my first product, now known as Sidekick™️.
Mission
At Sense It, I want to empower individuals of all ages who experience sensory processing differences. I am here to provide you with the tools, resources, and education you need to navigate the world confidently and comfortably.
